Developed to align with the dynamic surveying sector, the SRDITA Diploma of Surveying prepares you to lead surveying teams, delegate tasks, and work independently. This nationally recognised diploma, attainable after RTO registration, opens pathways for further studies at a degree level while providing the skills and knowledge to embark on entrepreneurship in the field.
Qualification Description
This qualification reflects the role of skilled surveying technicians who hold advanced surveying skills and perform duties in the field involving precise measurements and setting out structures using specialised surveying equipment. In the office, they map onsite measurements and draft plans.
Surveying skills are applied in various industry contexts, including town planning, civil construction, mining, engineering, agriculture and defence.
This qualification is suitable for an Australian traineeship pathway.
Proposed job Title
As a diploma holder, you can secure a job as a survey technician, surveyor, or senior surveyor, but it will depend on your performance.
Entry requirements
Entry points to undertake the CPP50121 Diploma of Surveying are:
- CPP40216 Certificate IV in Surveying, or
- CPP41721 Certificate IV in Surveying and Spatial Information Services (Surveying), or
- Demonstrated relevant vocational experience, skills, and knowledge commensurate with the scope of work covered in the CPP41721 Certificate IV in Surveying and Spatial Information Services (Surveying).
At a minimum, SRDITA requires that the Learner can:
- Numeracy skills and English reading, writing and spoken language skills at Australian year 10 or equivalent or for international learners IELTS 5.5
Learners are additionally required to:
- Have access to a computer and internet
- Possess computer skills to navigate websites and complete basic word-processing tasks
Fieldwork Requirement
Learners are required to supply the following:
- Closed-in shoes suitable for working in parks and gardens
- Loose-fitting long-sleeve shirt and pants for sun protection
- Wide-brimmed hat for sun protection
Pathways
Learners receive advice on employment and training pathways/options throughout the program’s delivery. Each learner has an individual discussion with the Careers Department provided by SRDITA. This course will give learners access to further education at the degree level and prepare them for how the training sector works. Employment in middle-level positions within the surveying sector will also be achievable.
This qualification is suitable for an Australian apprenticeship pathway.
