Fee Protection
SRDITA ensures student fee security by limiting domestic student payments to no more than $1,500 in advance. All international student prepaid tuition fees are safeguarded through the Australian Government’s Tuition Protection Service (TPS).

Delivery Modes

This course is delivered through a blended learning model, comprising online classes on Fridays and face-to-face classes on Saturdays and Sundays. Additional online learning, training, and assessment activities may be scheduled as required to meet the nominal hours of the qualification.

Advanced Diploma of Surveying – 49 Weeks

The Advanced Diploma of Surveying is a nationally recognised qualification designed for people who are seeking to develop higher-level skills for the surveying industry.

This 49-week course supports students to build advanced technical, analytical and problem-solving skills used in surveying practice. It covers the knowledge required to plan work, interpret complex information, support field and office-based surveying activities, and contribute to effective project outcomes.

The course is suitable for students who wish to progress beyond diploma-level study and develop the skills needed to work with greater independence and responsibility. Students will also build capability in supervising tasks, supporting team performance, applying surveying procedures, and making informed technical decisions.

SRDITA’s delivery focuses on practical, industry-relevant training aligned with the requirements of the national training package and ASQA standards. The qualification may support employment or further study pathways in surveying, spatial information and related fields.

Upon successful completion, students will receive the nationally recognised Advanced Diploma of Surveying, subject to SRDITA having the qualification on its scope of registration.

Qualification Description

This qualification reflects the role of skilled surveying technicians who hold advanced surveying skills and perform duties in the field involving precise measurements and setting out structures using specialised surveying equipment. In the office, they map onsite measurements and draft plans.

Surveying skills are applied in various industry contexts, including town planning, civil construction, mining, engineering, agriculture and defence.

This qualification is suitable for an Australian traineeship pathway.

Proposed Job Title

As an advanced diploma holder, you can secure a job as a survey technician, surveyor, or senior surveyor, but it will depend on your performance.

Entry requirements

Entry points to undertake the CPP60121 Advanced Diploma of Surveying are:

  • CPP50116 Diploma of Surveying, or
  • CPP50121 Diploma of Surveying, or
  • demonstrated relevant vocational experience, skills and knowledge commensurate with the scope of work covered in the CPP50121 Diploma of Surveying.

English Language, Literacy and Numeracy Requirements:

  • At a minimum, learners must demonstrate numeracy and English language skills equivalent to Australian Year 10. This includes the ability to read, write, speak and understand English sufficiently to participate in training, complete assessments and achieve the requirements of the qualification.
  • International applicants must provide evidence of English language proficiency equivalent to IELTS Academic 6.0, with no individual band score below 6.0, or an equivalent recognised English language test result accepted by SRDITA.

Learners are additionally required to:

  • Have access to a computer and the internet
  • Possess computer skills to navigate websites and complete basic word-processing tasks
  • Complete SRDITA assessment of LLN Level 5 and Digital Skills

Fieldwork Requirement

Learners are required to supply the following:

  • Closed-in shoes suitable for working in parks and gardens
  • Loose-fitting long-sleeve shirt and pants for sun protection
  • Wide-brimmed hat for sun protection

Pathways
Learners receive advice on employment and training pathways/options throughout the program’s delivery. Each learner has an individual discussion with the Careers Department provided by SRDITA. This course will give learners access to further education at the degree level and prepare them for how the training sector works. Employment in middle-level positions within the surveying sector will also be achievable.
This qualification is suitable for an Australian apprenticeship pathway.
